Sardinian Smile is truly a hidden gem located in the heart of Isla Mujeres. This Italian restaurant shines not just for its authentic flavors, but also for its cozy atmosphere and exceptional service. Many diners, like Vanessa Redensek, have raved about the menu's impressive breadth, featuring dishes like the remarkable tomato soup and the delicious penne shrimp pasta. The homemade fresh pasta truly elevates every dish, which was highlighted by Sasha Wenzel Daneault, who praised the subtle, rustic flavors reminiscent of Europe.
The enchanting ambiance, complemented by live music and attentive waitstaff, creates a welcoming dining experience. Travis Harmon emphasized the stellar service, noting how the Italian owners make guests feel like family. Debby Hoffman reiterated this, expressing her fondness for the lobster ravioli and the warm, engaging personality of the owner.
For couples, singles, or families, Nikki D’s recommendation of the shrimp fettuccine with pink sauce and the unforgettable tiramisu offers a true taste of Italian comfort. With reasonable prices and authentic cuisine, Sardinian Smile is a must-visit for anyone in Isla Mujeres seeking a memorable culinary escape.

We loved all the local food, but after a week we got tired and wanted something not fried or greasy. The menu is a little overwhelming with so many choices but we LOVED this restaurant. This was the best tomato soup I've ever had and our family also tried the penne shrimp pasta, lasagna and burrito, everything was AMAZING! Everyone was more than happy with the choices, quality, service and very reasonably priced!!! We all highly recommend.

Outstanding Italian food right in Isla Mujeres. The owners are from Sardinia, and own a restaurant there as well. The pastas are all fresh, homemade, and are delicious. I love, that on the main course pasta dishes, they have 2 sizes, which allows you to get a few different dishes and share. We did the beef Carpaccio, which was beautifully presented and sliced to perfection. The tomato soup, which had that, rustic European flavor. The mussels were outstanding. We also got the smaller portions of the Ragu Bolognese and the Meat Ravioli. The fresh pasta makes such a huge difference. The portions were great and so were the prices. I'm pretty picky about Italian food, after having spent time in Europe. This is definitely some of the best I've had in a long time. We enjoyed it so thoroughly, we went twice. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. There was live music, both nights we were there. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for "Authentic Italian". If Olive Garden is your thing... this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking to be transported to Italy, for a culinary experience, while in Isla... this goes above and beyond, to fit that bill! We will return for sure!

This is an absolutely spectacular place! My girlfriends and I happened to walk in for just one drink but we couldn't leave. The owner is such a genuine person. I'll never forget her. Every time I go to the Island, I will always visit. Try the lobster ravioli, margaritas, shrimp rosoto, brushetta and sangria!

This is quite possibly the best restaurant on the island. About as authentic as you'll find this far outside of Italy. The creamy tomato soup is divine, and the Bolognese is absolutely perfect. Even the bread is amazing. And as good as the food is, the service is even better. Our waiter as well as the owner are Italian, and they make you feel like you're eating at home. This is such a gem of a place.

When I walked by to look a the menu, I was not given a sales pitch to enter, that was bonus number 1!! I sat on the patio which is perfect for people watching. Real linens on the tables, glassware elegantly set up, candlelight, and comfortable chairs. I never had to flag the waiter down because he was so attentive. A solo guitar player playing friendly music added to the ambiance. For this tourist area strip, the prices are amazing! (I've looked and looked) I got a complimentary bread basket and an appetizer bruschetta. The Caesar salad to start was very tasty, and large portioned. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine with mushrooms in pink sauce. The shrimp was really fresh and cooked perfectly. The dish was nice and hot when served.I ordered the small portion and I couldn't finish it because I was so full. If you order large, you will get large! The wait staff are always keeping an eye out for you to see if you have finished your food, or are getting close to finishing your drink, so they check up on you immediately. They are also dressed very nicely. They also pay attention to the timing of your dishes. AMAZINGLY fast, reliable and consistent service.Speaking English was not an issue here. I finished with an American espresso and it was delicious. This place is GREAT for couples, singles and families. The owner was also waiting tables to make sure that everyone got great service. She was very happy and fun. Im here for 3 months and I will be a regular here. **I went back and had the coconut shrimp with mango sauce...yummm. But I can't stress enough that you must have the Tiramisu!! A must have. The recipe is a family recipe and I've never had anything like it.

We happened upon this unassuming but authentically adorable restaurant and it was a true delight. Greta was our server. She is from Italy and gave us excellent attention and menu advice. The food was truly excellent and we really enjoyed the wine. All was in good sized proportions and well priced for the superb quality. Our favorite was the mushroom/truffle fettuccini, but the spaghetti and meatball was wonderful too. We also got the seafood carbonara (unique and tasty) and muscles to start. We will be back for sure.
